Hajjati Sharifa Buzeki Hands Over Office to Mr. Kahandi Nelson at Ministry of Local Government

The Executive Director of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Hajjati Sharifa Buzeki, officially handed over her former office as Commissioner for Human Resource Management at the Ministry of Local Government to her successor, Mr. Kahandi Nelson.

The handover ceremony took place on Wednesday at the Ministry headquarters, where Hajjati Buzeki expressed deep gratitude to the Ministry for its support, care, and guidance throughout her tenure. She acknowledged the significant impact of her time at the Ministry, noting that it shaped her leadership approach in her current role at KCCA.

"It is by God’s will that the city I now head mirrors the very things we experience here, and I would have missed something crucial if I hadn’t had the opportunity to serve in the Ministry of Local Government," she remarked.

Mr. Kahandi Nelson, who has been serving at the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs for the past three years, pledged to uphold the high standards set by his predecessor.

"I am stepping into big shoes, but I assure you I will live up to the task. I will successfully carry on from where you have stopped," he assured.

The ceremony was officiated by Acting Permanent Secretary Hajji Sewante Khalifan, who commended Hajjati Buzeki for her outstanding service, particularly her role in implementing the Balanced Scorecard system, which is now a key tool for assessing civil servants’ performance.

He reassured the gathering that the Ministry would continue implementing the progressive human resource policies initiated under her leadership.
