Cavendish University Celebrates Lecturer Maganda Evans Tabingwa for Winning 2025 Tech and Innovation Award
Maganda Evans Tabingwa, a lecturer at Cavendish University Uganda and CEO of Tanya Innovations Africa, was honored as the Tech and Innovation Person of the Year by Scholar Media Africa at a prestigious ceremony held in Nairobi, Kenya.
To celebrate this remarkable achievement, Cavendish University Uganda hosted a special event at its Siyani Campus, located opposite the American Embassy in Kampala.
The celebration brought together university leadership, including Vice Chancellor Dr. Olive Sabiiti, Executive Director Mr. David Mutabanura, and several members of the academic and administrative staff, all gathered to recognize Maganda’s contributions to innovation and education.
During his speech, Maganda expressed deep appreciation for the university's leadership paying tribute to both the former Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Francis Mugisha, and the current Vice Chancellor, Dr. Olive Sabiiti, as well as Mr. Mutabanura for their visionary guidance that has helped shape his personal and professional journey.
He credited their stewardship for elevating Cavendish University to a reputable position within Africa’s higher education landscape.
He also extended heartfelt gratitude to his fellow teaching and non-teaching staff for their unwavering support and encouragement, noting that such solidarity fuels his passion for innovation.
“This award is not just recognition; it’s a motivator and amplifier,” Maganda said. “It reminds us of our responsibility to solve Africa’s pressing challenges through innovation. We cannot rely solely on government we must actively contribute to building the Africa we envision.”
The event marked a proud moment for Cavendish University and highlighted the power of local innovation in shaping the continent’s future.
