Hope Restored: How ONC and NRM Interventions Are Reviving Healthcare in Namayingo

At Buyinja Health Centre IV, once plagued by challenges and dwindling public trust, a new chapter is unfolding one marked by renewed hope, increased patient confidence, and a visible transformation in service delivery.
This turnaround is no accident. It is the result of deliberate efforts by the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), whose coordinators have been closely monitoring the facility since 2023. Their persistent oversight, grounded in the values of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), has sparked real change the kind that’s felt by the mothers, children, and patients who walk through Buyinja’s doors every day.
One of the most impactful changes came with the appointment of Dr. Kaluba Charles as acting in charge. With support from ONC, his leadership has brought a sense of order, compassion, and professionalism that is drawing more people to seek care at the facility.
But success has come with its own challenges, growing patient numbers now strain the limited space, with some wards overcrowded and beds insufficient. In the maternity ward, mothers sometimes sleep on the floor a stark reminder that more still needs to be done.
But there is a new energy here. Health workers, once disheartened, now show deeper commitment. Their renewed attitude reflects a broader cultural shift, driven by ONC’s regular engagement and the NRM’s emphasis on service to the people.
During a follow up visit Monday, ONC Coordinator Muteguya Denis walked through the facility, listening to health workers and checking on progress made since earlier community concerns were raised. His visit was more than just a routine check it was a reaffirmation that the government is listening, and acting.
Buyinja Health Centre IV stands today not just as a referral hospital, but as a symbol of what’s possible when leadership, accountability, and political will come together. ONC and the NRM have lit the path forward — and the people of Namayingo are beginning to believe again.
