Headline: Bridging Continents Through Education: Prof. Lawrence Muganga Champions Global Partnerships at UK-Uganda Business Forum

In the heart of London, where business leaders and policy makers gathered to chart a new course for UK-Uganda trade relations, one voice stood out not from a boardroom or government ministry, but from the academic world.
That voice belonged to Prof. Lawrence Muganga, Vice Chancellor of Victoria University, a man on a mission to redefine how Ugandan institutions engage with the world.
Prof. Muganga represented Victoria University at the UK-Uganda Trade and Business Forum, a high-level event focused on deepening ties between the two nations. His presence marked more than a diplomatic visit it was a declaration of purpose. Uganda’s future is global, and Victoria University intends to lead the way.
The timing couldn’t have been better. With Uganda Airlines launching direct flights between Entebbe and London Gatwick, the physical distance between the UK and Uganda just became shorter. And Prof. Muganga is determined to ensure that educational and economic bridges follow.
“This isn’t just about trade. It’s about talent, transformation, and trust,” said Prof. Muganga. “Victoria University is here to build relationships with diaspora communities, education partners, innovators, and investors who see value in our vision.”
At a time when total trade between Uganda and the UK hit GBP 860 million, and Ugandan exports over the past five years reached GBP 2.3 billion, Muganga believes education must not be left behind. He sees Victoria University as a catalyst for opportunity, creating links that benefit not only students, but the broader society fueling entrepreneurship, innovation, and cross-border collaboration.
The university’s mission in London was clear, to attract strategic partnerships, promote cultural exchange, and inspire trust in Uganda’s academic and innovation potential. Whether through student exchange programs, research collaborations, or community based initiatives, Muganga envisions a future where Victoria University becomes the go-to academic hub for East Africa’s global engagements.
“We’re not just representing a university we’re representing a mindset. One that says Uganda’s youth deserve global exposure, and the world deserves to discover Uganda’s talent,” Muganga declared.
The UK-Uganda Business Forum may be over, but for Victoria University, the work has just begun. With eyes set on Europe and beyond, and a bold commitment to diaspora engagement and global partnerships, Prof. Muganga is steering the university into uncharted, but promising, waters.
