George Wamono Officially Nominated as NRM Aspirant for Bungokho Central MP Seat Ahead of July Primaries
Speaking shortly after his nomination, George Wamono reaffirmed his commitment to community transformation, citing his previous interventions in the constituency.

The race for Bungokho Central constituency in Mbale District has gained momentum with the official nomination of George Wamono by the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission to contest in the party’s internal elections. Wamono is among the candidates who will vie for the NRM flag in the upcoming primaries scheduled for July 16, 2025.
As the ruling party continues its countrywide nomination of candidates for both parliamentary and local government positions, Wamono's nomination marks a significant moment for his campaign, which has been steadily gaining grassroots support.
Speaking shortly after his nomination, George Wamono reaffirmed his commitment to community transformation, citing his previous interventions in the constituency. He emphasized a people-centered leadership approach aimed at improving livelihoods.
“I have helped churches in my community, supported women’s groups—particularly SACCOS—and I will continue to focus on clean water supply for different communities. Thank you for your support, and I will make sure your lives change when voted,” Wamono stated.
Wamono's track record includes funding small-scale development initiatives, facilitating access to credit through community-based savings groups, and addressing critical needs such as water access and faith-based infrastructure.
In the days following his nomination, Wamono plans to traverse the constituency to consolidate support. His immediate itinerary includes community visits to Busano, Nyondo, Busoba, and Nabumali Town Council, where he is expected to meet residents, listen to their concerns, and present his development-focused agenda.
Wamono’s campaign is anchored on themes of service, accountability, and inclusive growth, particularly targeting rural transformation through improved infrastructure and social services.
The NRM party continues to showcase its internal democratic processes as it prepares for the July primaries. The party has called upon all aspirants to focus on issue-based campaigns and uphold unity, discipline, and respect for party structures.
Wamono’s nomination comes at a time when Bungokho Central constituents are keenly evaluating candidates' capacity to deliver on development priorities such as health, education, agriculture, roads, and youth empowerment.
George Wamono now enters a critical phase of his campaign as he seeks the trust of NRM delegates and voters within Bungokho Central. His emphasis on practical support to communities and clear policy direction offers a compelling case for new leadership in the constituency.
If successful in the July 16 NRM primaries, Wamono will advance to the 2026 general elections as the party’s flagbearer for Member of Parliament, Bungokho Central—a role that carries the weight of representing, legislating, budgeting, and providing oversight on behalf of the people.
As the campaign trail heats up, all eyes remain on the aspirants to see who best resonates with the people’s aspirations and earns the mandate to lead.
