Government Officials Mobilize Entebbe-Wakiso Leaders for Effective Service Delivery

The Deputy Head of the RDC Secretariat/ACU in the Office of the President, Dr. Sister Akiror Mary Grace, alongside Lt Col (Rtd) Ambako Kibrai, the Senior Presidential Advisor on Mobilization, has convened a high level meeting with Entebbe, Wakiso district leaders to discuss collaboration and assess the on the ground impact of key government programs.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Akiror reiterated President Yoweri Museveni’s directive that the 2021–2026 political term is a “Kisanja for socio-economic transformation.”

She emphasized that the government’s primary focus during this period is job creation, wealth generation, and improving household incomes.

While providing insights into the establishment of her department, she added that it was created in 2018 under the President’s directive to enhance service delivery across the country. She encouraged local leaders to share their perspectives on Entebbe Municipality, assuring them of continued government engagement in addressing service delivery concerns.

“I appreciate everyone who made time to attend this important discussion, as well as those who mobilized for this engagement and provided us with the venue. This is just the beginning, and we are committed to sustained dialogue and collaboration,” Dr. Akiror noted.

Lt Col (Rtd) Kibrai underscored the government’s commitment to empowering the youth through various programs aimed at fostering self-reliance. However, he pointed out a major challenge the lack of adequate dissemination of information regarding these initiatives.

"Many Ugandans remain unaware of how these programs directly benefit them. Bridging this information gap is critical to ensuring that communities take full advantage of the opportunities available to them," he said.

He also highlighted key concerns in service delivery, particularly in the education and health sectors. He noted that while universities continue to produce graduates, high school dropout rates remain a significant issue, calling for a reassessment of education programs to ensure they align with job market demands.

In the health sector, Lt Col (Rtd) Kibrai acknowledged ongoing medicine supplies but raised concerns over periodic shortages, urging for improved distribution systems to guarantee a steady supply of essential medicines.

The meeting emphasized the need for strengthened service delivery across all sectors to ensure that government programs achieve their intended impact, with leaders pledging to work collaboratively toward these goals
