Former District Police Commander for Bududa and Manafwa Districts, George Kadimba Patrice, has officially declared his intention to run for Member of Parliament for Pallisa County under the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.

Kadimba picked his nomination forms on Tuesday, June 11, 2025, as the NRM’s internal electoral roadmap ahead of the 2026 General Elections gets underway. Kadimba, a seasoned law enforcement officer turned political aspirant, pledged to be a “voice of the people” and emphasized his commitment to fighting poverty, promoting quality education, and facilitating job creation through skills training initiatives. His entry into the race marks a pivotal moment in Pallisa’s political landscape, especially at a time when constituents are eager for practical solutions to long-standing socioeconomic challenges.

“My mission is simple – to empower the people of Pallisa County by giving them access to education that delivers good grades, and by equipping our youth with employable skills so they can stand on their own,” Kadimba stated during a brief media interaction after picking the forms.

Kadimba highlighted that many citizens remain unaware of the crucial roles played by Members of Parliament (MPs) and emphasized his commitment to fulfilling these responsibilities with integrity and diligence. He outlined four core functions he intends to take seriously:

Legislation – “I will actively participate in the creation of laws that guide national development, ensuring they reflect the needs and aspirations of ordinary Ugandans,” he said.

Representation – Kadimba promised to represent the people of Pallisa County effectively in Parliament, voicing their concerns on issues ranging from infrastructure, education, healthcare, to agriculture.

Budget Approval – He committed to ensuring proper analysis and passage of the national budget, with a focus on advocating for equitable resource allocation to underserved regions like Pallisa.

Oversight – The aspiring legislator stressed the need to curb corruption and mismanagement of public resources. “I will hold government institutions accountable and fight against the misuse of taxpayer money,” he assured.

Kadimba’s declaration comes as the NRM officially kicks off its internal electoral process ahead of the 2026 general elections. On June 2, 2025, the NRM Electoral Commission, under the leadership of Dr. Tanga Odoi, began issuing nomination forms to party members vying for various elective positions including MP, district chairpersons, and other local government posts.

The expression of interest period will run until June 15, 2025, and will be followed by official nominations on June 17, 2025. The internal process is designed to streamline the party’s preparation, vetting, and endorsement of candidates who will represent the NRM in the national elections scheduled for 2026.

According to the NRM Secretariat, the vetting process will include screening for political experience, grassroots popularity, integrity, and alignment with the party's ideology of patriotism, democracy, and socio-economic transformation.

Community Reactions

Kadimba’s declaration has been received with mixed reactions in Pallisa County. While some constituents welcomed his promise of education reform and economic empowerment, others are cautious, expressing a desire to see concrete action beyond campaign pledges.

Margaret Namusoke, a teacher in Pallisa Town, commented:

“Kadimba has a solid background in public service, and if he brings the same discipline to politics, he could be a great MP. But we also need leaders who listen and consult us regularly.”

With a background in security and community engagement, George Kadimba Patrice brings a unique blend of experience to the political arena. His entry into the race for Pallisa County MP promises to inject renewed energy into the constituency's leadership conversation.

As the NRM’s electoral machinery swings into gear, the coming weeks will likely see an influx of aspirants stepping forward across the country. For now, Kadimba is focused on grassroots mobilization, listening to community needs, and crafting a people-centered campaign ahead of the highly anticipated 2026 general elections.
