Matsyetsye Emmanuel Koboyi Rallies Support for Manjiya MP Seat, Pledges Inclusive Development and Youth Empowerment
In Bududa District’s Manjiya Constituency, the name Matsyetsye Emmanuel Koboyi is once again echoing through the hills and valleys, with growing support from stakeholders and community members backing his parliamentary bid.

As Uganda prepares for the 2026 General Elections, political activities across the country are gaining momentum. In Bududa District’s Manjiya Constituency, the name Matsyetsye Emmanuel Koboyi is once again echoing through the hills and valleys, with growing support from stakeholders and community members backing his parliamentary bid. A seasoned mobiliser, community advocate, and loyal National Resistance Movement (NRM) cadre, Koboyi is seeking to become Member of Parliament for Manjiya Constituency, promising transformative leadership rooted in experience and inclusivity.
A Vision Anchored in the Four Pillars of Parliamentary Duty
Koboyi has publicly declared his intentions to contest for the Manjiya seat, guided by the four core responsibilities of a Member of Parliament: Legislation, Budgeting, Oversight, and Representation. He has vowed to actively participate in policy-making processes and ensure that the national budget reflects the pressing needs of his constituents, especially in underfunded sectors such as education, sports, and healthcare.
In his own words, Koboyi stated, “Initially seeking to be a flag bearer and thank you all for your support. I am guided by the four main functions of a member of Parliament: Legislation, Budgeting, Oversight, and Representation.”
Community Empowerment Through Sports and Skills Development
One of Koboyi’s most notable pledges is to establish a Sports Academy and a Technical School in Bududa. These institutions will serve as crucial platforms for youth empowerment, offering alternative career paths and life skills to young people in the region. Recognizing the role of sports in promoting discipline, unity, and health, Koboyi recently met with the President of the Uganda Cycling Association and successfully registered the Bududa Community Cycling Association.
Furthermore, Koboyi is spearheading youth engagement initiatives through Music, Dance, and Drama (MDD), creating safe spaces for expression, talent development, and cultural preservation.
Social Support for Vulnerable Groups
Koboyi has also made a strong commitment to addressing the needs of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), the elderly, women, veterans, students, and retired civil servants. He plans to support these groups with essential items such as food and medicine, while pushing for inclusive policies at the national level. His people-centered approach resonates with many who feel neglected by the current leadership.
A Rich History of Public Service and Activism
Matsyetsye Emmanuel Koboyi is no stranger to leadership and community service. A former President of the Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) and owner of Mbale Tigers sports club, he has long been at the forefront of sports development in Eastern Uganda. His work with the Uganda National Students Association (UNSA) and as Chairman of Youth Ending Hunger under The Hunger Project Uganda underscores his commitment to youth empowerment and grassroots mobilization.
Koboyi's political journey dates back to 2001 and 2006 when he contested for the Manjiya parliamentary seat, followed by an attempt in the 2009 Mbale Municipality by-election, a 2017 EALA bid, and a 2021 race for LC5 Chairman of Bududa District. Despite previous setbacks, he remains undeterred, now gaining serious traction for 2026 as the NRM flagbearer with strong grassroots endorsements.
A Battle of Ideologies: Challenging the Opposition
Koboyi is keen on reclaiming Manjiya Constituency from Hon. John Baptist Nambeshe, the current opposition Chief Whip and a prominent member of the National Unity Platform (NUP). Koboyi recalls how he once mentored Nambeshe and helped him ascend from LCIII to MP, only for him to abandon the NRM, a move that Koboyi believes betrayed the trust of many supporters.
“He chose to become NUP and disappointed most NRM supporters who had trusted him all along,” Koboyi remarked, signaling his readiness to restore NRM's influence in the region.
With decades of grassroots experience, a strong NRM foundation, and a comprehensive agenda focused on youth, women, and vulnerable populations, Matsyetsye Emmanuel Koboyi is poised to be a formidable candidate for Manjiya Constituency. As 2026 draws nearer, his supporters believe he represents not just a political alternative, but a return to inclusive, practical, and development-focused leadership in Bududa District.
