Alebtong, Uganda –

In a strong show of support and unity, National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders in Ajuri County have endorsed the Government Chief Whip, Hon. Denis Hamson Obua, as the sole party candidate for the position of Member of Parliament, Ajuri County, for the 2026–2031 parliamentary term. The endorsement, which highlights Obua’s continued influence and commitment to service, took place during a strategic meeting held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Baropiro Catholic Church in Omoro, Alebtong District.

The meeting was attended by local party leaders, elders, youth, and women representatives, who unanimously pledged their full backing to Hon. Obua’s candidature. The leaders praised his dedication to development, effective representation, and strong grassroots engagement, which they said have greatly transformed the constituency and inspired confidence in his leadership.

During the event, the NRM leaders also blessed and encouraged Hon. Obua to contest for the position of NRM Regional Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, signaling their trust in his ability to influence policy and mobilize support for the party across the broader northern region.

Hon. Obua, while accepting the endorsement, thanked the people of Ajuri and the party structures for the unwavering trust and support they have consistently shown him. He reaffirmed his commitment to promoting unity, development, and service delivery within the constituency and beyond. He emphasized the importance of collective effort, noting that leadership is a shared responsibility between selected officials and the people they serve.

“I am deeply humbled and honored by this endorsement. Your trust strengthens my resolve to continue working for the transformation of Ajuri and Northern Uganda. Together, we shall continue to champion the NRM vision of peace, unity, and prosperity for all,” Obua remarked.

This endorsement comes at a critical time when political mobilization and internal party preparations are picking up momentum ahead of the 2026 general elections. With Obua’s growing popularity and his close ties with the national leadership, including President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, his candidature is expected to significantly boost the NRM’s performance in the region.

Hon. Obua, who has served in various capacities including as Minister of State for Sports and currently as Government Chief Whip, is seen as a bridge between the central government and the northern region, playing a key role in policy implementation and national cohesion.

As the countdown to the 2026 elections begins, Obua’s early endorsement sets the stage for a robust and focused campaign, underpinned by his proven track record and the confidence of the electorate.
