In a statement issued shortly after the Speaker’s meeting, Mukesh praised the initiative as timely and strategic, particularly as Uganda positions itself for accelerated socio-economic transformation in the 2026–2031 national development window. He emphasized the need for smart partnerships and concessional financing, which he believes are pivotal to unlocking Uganda’s full potential in manufacturing, trade, and industrialization.

Kampala – Celebrated Ugandan entrepreneur, industrialist, and philanthropist, Shukla Mukesh, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, for hosting Ambassadors and Heads of Missions from Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in a high-level engagement aimed at strengthening inter-parliamentary diplomacy.
“Such diplomatic engagements are not just ceremonial. They are bridges to strategic alliances that can yield concessional financing, trade facilitation, and knowledge transfer. These are crucial economic boosters that will complement Uganda’s vision of value addition and export-led growth,” Mukesh noted.
A Vision Rooted in Prudential Friendships
Mukesh, widely respected for his business acumen and philanthropic contributions across Uganda, further commended Speaker Among for her commitment to prudent international friendships. He said Uganda stands to benefit immensely from mutual cooperation with OIC member states, many of which have made significant strides in industrial transformation, renewable energy, infrastructure development, and Islamic banking.
“Uganda must position itself to attract investment and technology from OIC nations. Our shared values of mutual respect, economic diplomacy, and South-South cooperation are fertile ground for long-term gains,” he added.
Speaker Among Emphasizes Inter-Parliamentary Diplomacy
Earlier today, Rt. Hon. Anita Among welcomed representatives from over 50 Islamic nations at the Parliament of Uganda. The discussions centered around enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation, building people-centered policies, and exploring bilateral opportunities in education, trade, health, and legislative reforms.
“This engagement reflects Uganda’s continued commitment to working with member states of the OIC to foster dialogue, peace, and prosperity through shared parliamentary values,” Speaker Among stated.
The meeting also reaffirmed Uganda’s role as a key diplomatic partner in the East African region and its readiness to champion collaborative legislative frameworks that promote development and inclusivity.
As Uganda looks ahead to the next national development phase (2026–2031), voices like Mukesh’s are urging a proactive approach to international relations — one that prioritizes partnerships with tangible economic outcomes. The synergy between political leadership and private sector visionaries such as Mukesh could be instrumental in realizing Uganda’s industrial and manufacturing aspirations, while maintaining strong diplomatic and cultural ties with nations around the world.
Mukesh concluded by calling upon other business leaders and investors to rally behind Parliament’s diplomatic engagements, noting that, “The Parliament of Uganda is not just a law-making body — it’s a launchpad for regional influence and national development.”
This diplomatic engagement is part of Uganda’s broader efforts to diversify its international partnerships and promote economic cooperation aligned with Vision 2040 and the country’s industrialization agenda.
