Speaking shortly after his nomination, Singh Katongole reflected on his leadership journey that began nearly three decades ago. “I have always been a leader since 1996, when I came from Kinawa in Masaka District where I grew up. I call upon my constituents to take me back to Parliament in 2026,” Katongole stated, reaffirming his dedication to public service.

Hon. Parminder Singh Katongole, the current Vice Chairperson of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) for Kampala Region, has been officially nominated by the NRM Electoral Commission to contest as the party flagbearer for Rubaga North Constituency in the upcoming 2026 parliamentary elections.
The nomination, which took place at the NRM Electoral Commission headquarters on Plot 13, Kyadondo Road, Kampala, marks a significant milestone in Katongole’s long-standing political journey. The NRM party's nomination window, which opened on June 16, is set to close on June 30, 2025. Thereafter, the Central Executive Committee (CEC) will vet candidates from June 26 to July 1, culminating in a Delegates Conference that will precede the party primaries.
A Leader Since 1996
Speaking shortly after his nomination, Singh Katongole reflected on his leadership journey that began nearly three decades ago.
“I have always been a leader since 1996, when I came from Kinawa in Masaka District where I grew up. I call upon my constituents to take me back to Parliament in 2026,” Katongole stated, reaffirming his dedication to public service.
Katongole previously served in Parliament, and his return bid for Rubaga North is anchored on a renewed vision of inclusive growth and transformation for the constituency.
Committed to Service, Development, and Community Empowerment Katongole pledged to address the many challenges facing residents of Rubaga North, especially in areas of economic hardship, unemployment, and limited access to quality services.
“My constituents encounter many challenges. With me and my friends from the business community on their side, I am willing to help. I can lessen the burdens and stress a business leader might normally face alone,” he said.
He emphasized the importance of collaborative leadership and the value of building community through shared experiences and dialogue.
“Working alongside each member of your community to ensure they have a safe space to share their insights and setbacks can also build trust and strengthen relationships,” he added.
A central pillar of Katongole’s campaign is the empowerment of women and youth in Rubaga North. He promised to promote livelihood improvement programs that will support entrepreneurship, vocational training, and access to financial services for these key demographic groups.
“I will empower women and youth in Rubaga North to improve their livelihoods through quality service delivery,” he pledged, asserting that real change begins at the grassroots with inclusive development strategies.
In addition to his parliamentary ambitions, Hon. Katongole declared his intent to maintain his influential role as NRM Vice Chairperson for Kampala Region. He promised his supporters that he will pick expression of interest forms for the same position.
“Leadership is about continuity and accountability. I will also seek to remain NRM Vice Chairperson for Kampala Region, and I am confident in the support of the people and party structures,” Katongole stated.
As the NRM gears up for the next phase of internal party processes, Hon. Singh Katongole’s nomination adds significant weight to the Rubaga North race. His blend of business acumen, grassroots engagement, and longstanding political involvement positions him as a strong contender in both the primaries and the 2026 general elections.
With the support of his constituents and the wider NRM establishment, Katongole is banking on his tested leadership and pragmatic vision to steer Rubaga North toward a brighter, more inclusive future.
