Former Minister of Energy and current Woman Member of Parliament for Bulambuli District, Hon. Eng. Irene Nafuna Muloni, has been officially nominated to contest in the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries for the Bulambuli Woman Parliamentary seat.

The nomination took place on Thursday at the NRM party headquarters on Kyadondo Road, Kampala, where Dr. Tanga Odoi, Chairperson of the NRM Electoral Commission, formally received and confirmed her nomination papers.

Service Above Self”: Muloni Reaffirms Commitment to Bulambuli

Speaking shortly after her nomination, Hon. Muloni expressed deep gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the government's continued support in ensuring that development programs are steadily progressing across Bulambuli District.

“I want to thank President Museveni that most of the government programs are moving on well in Bulambuli district. I will continue doing my work for you as your Woman MP and I appreciate your support all these years,” Hon. Muloni stated.

She emphasized that, under her leadership, significant efforts have been made to improve infrastructure and basic services in the district. She pledged to remain steadfast in advancing initiatives in sectors such as education, healthcare, roads, and agriculture.

“We will continue improving on roads, schools, hospitals, agriculture—together, we shall move forward,” she affirmed.

Muloni, a seasoned engineer and long-serving public servant, highlighted her dedication to helping marginalized groups, especially the youth, women, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and the elderly, benefit from key government empowerment initiatives like the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga program.

“As a district, I have strived to help my constituents access funds from government programs like PDM, Emyooga—especially targeting youth, PWDs, and the elderly,” she explained.

Health Sector: A Priority for the Next Term

Looking ahead, Hon. Muloni unveiled her plan to intensify lobbying for better healthcare infrastructure. Among her top priorities is the establishment of a fully equipped government hospital in Muyembe and the upgrading of health facilities in Buginyanya and other underserved areas of the district.

“We must ease access to quality healthcare. I want to lobby for a government hospital in Muyembe and other health facilities in Buginyanya to serve our people better,” she pledged.

The NRM’s internal nomination exercise for flag bearers for Parliamentary, Mayoral, and LC5 District Chairperson positions will continue until June 30, 2025. The internal elections are slated for July 16, 2025, as the party gears up for the 2026 general elections.

The nomination of experienced leaders like Hon. Irene Muloni signals the ruling party’s strategy to retain seasoned legislators who have demonstrated consistent delivery of government programs at the grassroots level.

With her track record in public service and unwavering commitment to her people, Eng. Muloni’s candidacy is poised to energize the NRM support base in Bulambuli, setting the stage for a robust contest in the upcoming primaries.
