Mukiibi Eriasa Sserunjogi Launches Independent Bid for Butambala MP Seat, Vows to Champion People’s Interests Over Party Politics
Mukiibi Eriasa Sserunjogi has officially continued to declare his intention to contest for the Butambala County parliamentary seat as an independent candidate, emphasizing a people driven agenda over partisan politics.
Speaking during a radio program on 92.3 Voice of Africa, Sserunjogi revealed that he has spent the past year traversing the different communities of Butambala, closely engaging with residents and identifying their key needs and aspirations. He noted that this grassroots interaction has given him a clear understanding of the unique challenges facing the constituency.
"Over the years, the people of Butambala have elected Members of Parliament based on party affiliations. However, this time, the community is yearning for a shift they want to elect a representative who truly understands and prioritizes their issues, regardless of political party," Sserunjogi stated.
He further explained that his decision to run as an independent candidate stems from a growing sentiment among constituents who feel disillusioned by party politics and seek authentic leadership that directly represents their voice.
"The people of Butambala did not want to be divided or confused by party politics this time. They chose to send someone to Parliament who is solely committed to their cause and that is why I come forward as an independent. I’m honored to have been identified by the people themselves," he said.
Sserunjogi also highlighted that his campaign has received support from individuals affiliated with various political parties, showcasing a broad base of unity and trust across the political spectrum.
"This is not just a personal mission it’s a collective decision by people from all political backgrounds. Their willingness to support me speaks volumes about the desire for inclusive and accountable leadership," he added.
As the 2026 general elections draw closer, Sserunjogi aims to build a campaign anchored in community engagement, transparency, and development-focused leadership promising to be a true representative of the people of Butambala in the 12th Parliament.
