UPDF FC Hosts Kitara FC in StarTimes Uganda Premier League as Kitara Adjusts to Transfer Changes

The 2024/25 StarTimes Uganda Premier League resumes next week for the second round, with UPDF FC set to host Kitara FC on 13th February 2025 at Bombo Military Barracks Ground.

UPDF FC currently sits 12th on the league table with 17 points from 15 games,

while Kitara FC, their opponents for Match Day 16, are positioned 7th with 21 points. With both teams looking to make a strong start in the second round, Kitara FC will take to the pitch with some notable squad adjustments following the recently concluded secondary transfer window.

The January transfer window saw Kitara FC making minimal squad changes, but key departures have shaped the squad dynamics ahead of the second round.

After spending one and a half years at Kitara FC, striker Denis Omedi secured a move to APR FC, a top-flight club in Rwanda.

During his time at Kitara, Omedi proved to be a key asset, scoring 19 goals in 45 matches across all competitions. His exit leaves a significant gap in Kitara’s attacking force, with the club now looking to fill the void in their offensive strategy.

Midfielder Umar Lutalo, who joined Kitara FC in September 2024 as a free agent from SC Villa, had his contract terminated after just four months.

Lutalo had absconded from the club in November 2024 without official communication, leading to uncertainty over his future with the Royals. However, after discussions, both parties agreed to mutually terminate the contract, making him a free agent once again.

New Signing: Amos Etoju Joins Kitara FC

Despite losing two players, Kitara FC opted for minimal reinforcement, making just one signing during the January transfer window.

Kitara secured the services of midfielder Amos Etoju, who joins on a six-month deal from Mbale Heroes.

The towering midfielder featured 10 times for Mbale Heroes in the first round of the current season and is expected to add depth to Kitara’s midfield as they push for a strong finish in the second round.

With their attacking options now adjusted following Omedi’s departure, Kitara FC will be looking to reorganize their squad to maintain consistency in their performance.

The upcoming fixture against UPDF FC will serve as an early test for their resilience, especially after dropping crucial points in the first round of the campaign.

Fans will be eager to see how Etoju fits into the team and whether Kitara can continue to push for a top-half finish in the 2024/25 StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
